HISTORY

Dar Jamila is a magnificent house, located on the remparts of the old medina of Hammamet. Initially built by the French artist Jean-Claude Pascal in the 1960s, who put the city in the global map by settling along other celebrities (i.e. Georges Sebastian, Elsa Schiaparelli & Horst P. Horst). The house was referred as ‘Dar Jean-Pascal ‘ and marked the history of Hammamet with its unique location and inspiring architecture. In the 1980s, the house has been acquired by the famous italian industrialist
and collector Marco Rivetti, who fell in love with Hammamet and its Medina. Having succeeded in the art and fashion industries, Marco Rivetti added his mark to the house by capturing the essence of Tunisia, its heritage and history.
Since the late 1990s, the house belongs to a Tunisian woman called Jamila, who’s biggest dream was to share this exceptional piece of Tunisian history with the world. Jamila added her touch to the house by rejusting it to the modern era while keeping the heritage of her predecessors. The guest-house now bears her name, and is available to discover for everyone.
