HISTORY
Dar Jamila is a magnificent house, located on the ramparts of the old medina of Hammamet. Initially built by the French artist Jean-Claude Pascal in the 1960s, ‘Dar Pascal’ cradled the history of Hammamet with his sense of theatrical excesses, authentic roman architecture and his spectacular dinners. Many illustrious figures of modern times visited this beautiful residence, including King Edward VIII, Sophia Loren, the Agnellis and Craxi.
In the 1980s, the house has been acquired by the famous Italian industrialist and collector Marco Rivetti, who fell in love with Hammamet and its Medina. Having succeeded in the art and fashion industries, Marco Rivetti added his mark to the house by bridging the Arab-Muslim heritage with Roman architecture.
Since the late 1990s, the house belongs to a Tunisian woman called Jamila, whose biggest dream was to share this exceptional piece of Tunisian history with the world. Jamila added her touch to the house by readjusting it to the modern era while keeping the heritage of her predecessors. The guest-house now bears her name and is available to discover for everyone.
